Fun Monday- Dec 31st

Peter is our host this week this week and here is what he wants us to do....The task for Fun Monday Dec.31 is designed to do several things;
Finish the year with a smile on our faces.
Give us a use for that Fwd that’s cluttering up the inbox.
Put the fun into Fun Monday.
I want you to tell us your favorite joke and/or show us
your favorite cartoon, don’t worry if there is some
duplication that just means more than one person
found it funny.
So come on and regale us with your best joke and/or
cartoon, remember its New Years Eve and we feel
like a good laugh, before 2008 comes along and does its thing on us.
PS, I've left myself too much time to think about this..... we all have
more than one favorite, Right!! hit us with your best selection!!!!!

My best jokes are from my oldest son, he is a character! Some of the mess he gets is from Bill Engvall. Aron had watched one show were Bill had said he had took some Vatican and drank a Bahama mama then got mad and said, "You just make me braid my hair!"
Well, to Aron's story!
We had just crossed over from cub scouts to boy scouts and we were on our 1st boy scout camp out. The older boys were picking on my new boys. (mainly because my boys was showing them up in front of the Scout Master. They wasn't trying, but my boys had been in scouts from Tigers up and most of them boys had never been in cub scouts) Well, they had got Aron to the point of blowing up, but instead of blowing up he raised his hands and said, " Ya'll just make me want to braid my hair!" (His head was shaved at this time) Every body just looked at him. The bigger boys decided to leave him a lone after that. LOL! The Scout Leaders are still laughing at that till this day and that was 3 years ago.
Aron's second joke (not sure where he got this from, but like I said, he's a character!
Ya know most people get their driver license at the age of 16, well I had to wait till I was 21. During this time I was waiting, I was able to save up enough money to get me a cool car with an awesome engine. You know most people have v-8 that will hmmm, well for some reason every time mine would pass a cop it would say, Loooooossssserrrrrr!
My little man has a bunch more! He can make a joke out about anything, but I'll just spare yall with just 2 of his.

Here's my cute art:
A catapult!

Here's our Home School Motto:

Hope ya enjoyed!

Part 4 of momma & my Holiday.

This is my final entry on my Holiday. Well, at least of of our family get togethers. Christmas Day we went to Maws and it was as Pleasant, Enjoyable & Peaceful as the rest. The lady from Hell and my niece (that drives me nuts) sit down in the other room where the kids usually eat and then went to my BIL's house and stayed there all day. I was really shocked. Dan's mom must have really got them! I laid in the floor and enjoyed every one's company while KB & DJ enjoyed their cousins.
(Here's a few pictures of Maw's)

(Maw got her a home made bird house made like a church. Boy, I thought that was neat!)

My momma is doing okay. She got her Border Collie yesterday and KB went to stay the night with momma to help potty train. Hopefully this puppy will do what it was bought to do, keep momma from getting lonely. Maybe with her having him there I wont have to go so much and be able to do things I need to do. Don't get me wrong, I do love my momma and if her health got bad enough I would stay more. But, at the moment it's more less she gets so lonely.
Here's Topper!

Logan, the Sky Angel Cowboy!

This is so cute!

Part 3 of momma & my Holiday

I know ya'll think I'm silly doing this in parts, but it's just so much I want wrote down for memories. With this being the most peaceful Christmas in a long time I really want to be able to look back on these moments.
Momma is doing fine and we have decided to try to keep her out of the hospital unless it's just a have to. The next time she gets really down we are going to request a home nurse to come in. I still think she needs her oxygen, but her Dr is on vacation. (Her lung Dr) I have talked to the boys and told them I need some help so, we are going to get together and make us a schedule. I know I'll have to be the one giving her bath's & cleaning house, but they are going to have to take up some of the other slack and have agreed, we just need to come up with a game plan. Momma called and bought her a Border Collie yesterday and my oldest brother is going go with her today and pick it up. I think her having a sweet dog there with her will help her from getting so lonely.
Christmas at Dan's Mom's If any has read my post about my Thanksgiving or has known me for a little while, you know I have a lady that makes me sick to my stomach that is married to my brother in law. I also have a niece on Dan Dan's side that can drive me crazy! They both ganged up on me Thanksgiving and made my time with Daniel's family miserable. Well!, I really didn't want to go to his mom's or grandmother's, but I also really wanted to go. Well, I went anyways for Dan's and the kids sake. (I had went up for prayer our last church service before the Holidays because of this situation because I knew if I went half cocked it would turn out ugly and I would look like the bad guy. But I just wanted a peaceful Holiday!) We went to Dan's mom's house Christmas Eve after we left momma's and as soon as I walked in his momma walked up to me and told me to not worry I was going to have a good time and stay away from the evil 2. She was right! We had the happiest time we have had in a while. The lady from HELL tried a few times to start something, but every time Dan's mom stepped in. Boy! It was wonderful!
(Here are a few pictures of our Christmas get together at Mom Irene's house)

(The last 2 pictures are Dan's mom & the 2nd picture is of his step dad with kb.)
I will post my final post of Maw's tomorrow.

Part 2 of momma and my Holiday

As you can tell from my post below that Christmas at momma's went extremely well! As far our house it was just as pleasing! This has been a very hard year financially and with momma & Daniel being sick a lot has had me stressed! I had gotten a little down when mom went in the hospital, I just got tired of holding my head so high, but God stepped in and took care! I know it's not about the gifts and that wasn't my concern, well maybe a little for my kids sake. But I knew that Dan & I had a little for ours and had talked to them and they were cool with not getting much. It was just the over whelming of bills had started taking its toll on me. Well, while mom was in the hospital somebody walked up to me and handed me some money and told me to go pay a bill. I was shocked because I hadn't told anyone, so I went and payed the bill. Two days later my little brother called me and told me to come over. When I got there he handed me $250. I busted out crying! He said somebody gave him the money to give to me, but wouldn't tell me who. I was able to finish paying my water bill, some groceries and get the kids some shoes (that was badly needed) to go with the little things they had asked for. I know all this shall pass and I shouldn't get so upset, but some times it can get you down! I'm just so Thankful that I serve a God who takes care me in my time of need!
Christmas morning Daniel's dad had spent the night and was there with us to enjoy the kids. He said he was so glad to be at our house because my kids was so thankful for what they had and we were just so happy! He said that he had been at Daniel's oldest brother's house the year before and the kids did nothing but fight and fuss of who got the most or the best! He said my kids may not had a lot of gifts, but had more that the others, which is love! that made me feel really good.
(Here's a few pictures of our Christmas morning.)

I will post about Dan Dan's mom's and grandmother's either tonight or tomorrow. Just depends on my day.
I hope you and yours had as much of a lovely time as mine did!

Part 1 of momma and my Holiday

It probably is a good thing I haven't been online much these last few days. One day over tired, the next over stressed and so forth and so on. But I do have to say it has turned out to be one of the nicest Holidays we have had in a long time. Even thou we put momma in the hospital last Sunday and she expected me to do a 100 chores plus stay up there almost the whole time. It wasn't that bad at 1st, but I got wore out. I wouldn't complain thou because she has always been there for me. Last Friday night she threw a fit on the nurses to come home. My Pastor and his wife just happened to show up when I got there. My pastor's wife called my oldest brother trying to help us make momma stay. The nurses told us if momma went home before discharged that her hospital bill wouldn't be paid, the Pulmonary Dr's would drop her and she wouldn't be sent home with her oxygen that she was qualified for. I told the nurses that she was over pumped up on steroids and needed a shower. They let Sam and I take her for a ride in the wheel chair to get out of the room and allowed me to take her to the next floor to give her a bath. While Sam and I had her down riding in the wheel chair she told Sam to go home that all she needed was me because I was her wonder women! I was flattered, but also wish my brothers would step in and help, but I guess now I know why they haven't. I finally got her a bath and calmed down about mid night. I wasn't expecting the Dr to release her till sometime this week, but mom called me the next morning while I was cleaning her house and washing her clothes and told me that the Dr had released her. My nieces on my brothers' side and I had planned on making candy that day, plus I was hoping someone else would take her clean clothes to her for I could get a little rest, but it didn't happen that way. I think the Dr. only released momma because of her fit she threw the night before. The Charge Nurse told me that even thou momma qualified for oxygen the Dr wasn't sending her on any and said he would she her in the ER with in a week. This made me really mad!, but I don't guess there is nothing I can do about it. Two of my nieces and I cooked a lot of candy that Saturday night then I got up the next morning and cooked most of our Christmas dinner for Monday. I went back early Monday and finished up the rest and then came back home to finish what I had here. Even thou momma got really tired and had to lay down most of the time we were all there, we had a peaceful, happy time!
(Here are a few pictures @ momma's)

(The last picture is one of momma. She is the one on the end in pink. You can click on the pictures to get a better view. Oh! I guess you can tell I got my Digital camera for Christmas I wanted)
When I went and gave momma a bath tonight she told me she didn't want to go back in the hospital, but wanted me to take care of her at home. I don't blame her! I guess I will call the Dr's office tomorrow and see what we can work out. I don't know if she will pull out of this or continue going down, but I do know that I'm thankful that I had her one more Christmas and it turned out so good.
I will post more of my concerns and more of our other family Holiday tomorrow.

12 questions of Christmas

I found this meme over at Hootin' Anni's blog. I have been meaning to do it, but just haven't got to it yet, so here it is.

For the holiday season, I've started a meme. "The Twelve Questions of Christmas" If you'd like to participate, I'd be honored to have you join in the fun. If you'd like, you are welcomed to use the meme header graphic!

1. Christmas is Wonderful. [fill in the blank with ONE WORD]

2. In memories, what was the best part of your Christmases past? My grandaddy (DiDi) always bringing us fruit and Hersey candy bars for our stocking.

3. Was Santa ever good to you? [describe how and what] Yes! I always got my roller skates.

4. Do you open gifts on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, or both? We open gifts at my mom's and Dan Dan's mom's on Christmas Eve and we open gifts here and his grandmother's on Christmas Day.

5. Is there something you make each and every year? [craft or recipe] The kids and I use Bark chocolate and dip all kinds of stuff to make candies. We also make apple sauce and cinnamon ornaments.

6. What is your favorite five[5] Christmas songs/hymns? Pretty Paper by Willie Nelson, Blue Christmas by Elvis, Christmas Shoes by New Song, Mary did you know? by Kenny Rogers and Wynonna Judd and Little Drummer Boy.

7. Is there a new tradition for Christmas since your childhood days? We cut a fresh tree.

8. Describe one of your Christmas trips. [whether it's across town or across country] We always go stay the day at Dan Dan's grandmother's.

9. Do you have a special Christmas outfit to wear for the day? Sometimes I wear a new Christmas shirt.

10. Have YOU or any of your family members sat on Santa's lap? My kids have when they were smaller. I got to sit on Santa's lap for the 1st time the day before my 18th birthday. We spent the whole week end in Memphis and the time of our lives. (My mom, step dad, youngest brother and me)

11. What is/or will be on your Christmas tree this year? Cinnamon ornaments.

12. Do you/or have you decorated your yard for Christmas? This is our 1st year. My picture was on Fun Monday. My kids put up the lights.

Thanks Anni! This was fun!

Fun Monday: The story of your house & road

Today for Fun Monday I thought it would be neat to hear about the story behind your home and the road you live on. It doesn't have to be historical, maybe just something that stands out to you. It would be nice to have pictures to go with your little story. I also would like to know who has the oldest house. Whoever has the oldest house will get a little Christmas treat from little ole me.
List of participants below my FM post! This is a sticky post and will stay up till Tuesday. So, if you don't mind go below for other post till then. Thank you and a wonderful day!
This has been a big wow for me this week. I hope y'all had fun with it. I know this sounded sorta like another Fun Monday we did, but I wanted to bring out a little more and see who had the oldest home. I don't know who is next FM host will be, so, If you'll let me know it would be nice. Ooops! I forgot that part.

Okay, to the story behind my road and my house. My road was the 1st road (paved)ever made in Pontotoc, MS. It was made in 1941 and it is a concrete road. If you don't know it's concrete, you'll think it's a driveway. The funny thing is that it was never used much for anything until about 11 years ago when they decided to make a neighborhood. I have asked around and nobody knows why they built a road and not used it. My house was built in 1941 also. My house sat where our Burger King is now. It had sit there for about 20 years without anyone living in it. We moved it 10 years ago and strip it down to the frame. The wood is so seasoned that a lot of our nails would bend or break when we would try to put then in. We did most of our work our selves along with friends, family and others that wanted to help Habitat for Humanity.
I have always thought it was neat that my house and the road I live on was both built in 1941.
(We have had so much traffic and heavy vehicles that our road is getting big holes. I'm afraid they are going to pave it. That's one reason I wanted to do this, so I could always remember the original one.)

Handcrafter's Holidays Meme

I found this meme over at Heather K's blog and I thought it would be neat. If anyone wants to do it that will be fine and fun!

Gifts
Do you have a favorite gift that you love to give? Home made sweets of all kinds and candles.

If you’re making gifts this year, what are you making? (Post photos if you have some!) I'm not making nothing but my candies and cookies this year to give, but have made candles. I plan on making quilts next year for family gifts. (I have my photos of a few candles below.) I also use old CDs and put either fabric or wall paper on it to make cute little pictures to sit around. (Pictures below)

Do you have any good stories about handcrafted gifts you’ve given or received? My mom has been a nurse for 44 years and has worked most of them in nursing home. A lot of her patience have made me stuff over the years. I have baby blankets, booties, bells (picture below on my fun Monday) and several other things.
I also made home made stick horses on year for all of my little nephews. (The picture is below)

Do you have any great gift compilation ideas (a grouping of gifts just perfect for certain recipients?) home made sweets

Name one thing on your personal wish list. A digital camera.

Do you make and sell things that would make fantastic gifts? I'll be making quilts next year. I made candles last year. No, haven't sold just gave. I may sell my quilts latter on down the road.

Traditions

What is your favorite family holiday tradition? Making cinnamon ornaments. I love to get a pot of water to boil and put cinnamon and orange peels in it. It makes your house smell so good!

Have you started any new traditions with your family that you didn’t practice growing up? Yes, cutting a fresh tree as a family and cinnamon ornaments.

What do you love most about the holiday season? Family time! And the smells.

What do you like least about the holiday season? The fact that it has become so commercialized.

Anyone close to your heart that you’ll be missing this year? My daddy and my Uncle Paul. Their our others I miss, but they have been gone longer, so this year it's kinda hard not having these two. My daddy always wrapped our gifts in the funny papers.
EDIT:
my little brother in law. I have only saw him once in 2 years and it will be 8 more years before he come home.

What is your favorite holiday food? A spiral ham and this freezer cake my mom makes. I really need to get her recipe!

Do you have a great recipe to share?
I have already shared so many though out my blog. Just go check them out if you like.

Merry Christmas and Many Blessing to you and yours!

My thoughts and concerns for today

Haven't had much time to be on line this week. With my mom being sick and me having to go take care of her, plus trying to give the kids their mid- terms, I just haven't had much time to do to much. Today we are having Jb's birthday party here at the house. So, Saturday I hoping to write out the links for fun Monday and have them ready for everyone. I really need to get out there and take a picture of my road. LOL!
Today is Daniel's last day at work till after the 1st. This really sucks, because we really need the money, but I guess we will hang in there. God hasn't let us down yet! I'm hoping with him having 2 1/2 - 3 weeks off that he'll help me finish remodeling this house instead of stay gone hunting. I guess I'll have to wait and see.
I finally have got the house de cluttered except going through Jb's clothes and them 3 junk drawers we have. I have no idea what to do with them drawers, so I'm not going to worry with them. As far as JB's clothes maybe we can get that done next week.
Over all life is good! I just don't know about momma. I feel we need to put her in the hospital. Her breathing isn't any better so, I guess I'll have to take her back to the Dr. today. They were going to put her in the other day, but she talked them out of it. I'm just hoping her and the Dr. don't wait to late like they have the past 2 years and she has to be in ICU 10 days. Momma has an immune deficiency and COPD. With her immune deficiency it is hard for her to fight off any infection. She has infusions every month, but they aren't working. I had the Dr. to check her IGG levels last month and they are lower than when we first started this treatment. I have asked him if he can change the treatment or increase it, but he keeps ignoring me. So, I don't know which way to go next. There is not that many Drs out there that know how to deal with this because it is so rare. Plus, I don't think the Dr that is taking care of mom's treatments knows much about this area either. Don't get me wrong, I think he is good at treating cancer, but not this. He and I have had a few rounds.
Well, I guess I'm finish with rambling at the moment. LOL!
Take care and have a nice day!

5 Post Meme

My new friend Junebug tagged me for this.
The rules are: Post 5 links to 5 of your previously written posts. The posts have to relate to the 5 key words given below (family, friend, yourself, your love, anything you like). Tag 5 other friends to do this meme. Try to tag at least 2 new acquaintances (if not, your current blog buddies will do) so that you get to know them each a little bit better:
I sorta had to disobey the rules here. My blog really does show who I am, scattered. LOL! So, I could just choose one post for each key word. But it'll be okay, you'll just get to know me a little better.:)Family: Kids Momma & brothers My daddy
Friend: Denim Jumper (well now it's my blog along with TDJ) friends
Me: My ABC meme (this is a meme I done here while back telling different things all about
me)
My Love:
Anything: Well, this just sums me up I think.
So, now its time for me to pass this along. It has been fun looking back on scattered brained post.
I would like to pass this to Crystal and Debs

Monday, December 10, 2007

I finally did it.

OMGees! I have been trying this for 2 weeks! I finally got it to work. Thanks to Terri and Robin. Bless their heart! Thank you ladies. Now if anyone can tech me how to do sticky post because I am the host for next week. But I do know if I don't do a sticky post I can put it in the side bar. I'm not all that dumb. LOL!
I owe yall ladies! :)

Fun Monday "Show me your favorite ornament"

Katabug is our host this week and this is what she wants...
In the spirit of the season I would like to see your favorite Christmas tree ornament. Not to be confused with the WHOLE tree. I want you to zoom in and show me one or a few(you know I can't choose just one!) of your favorite ornaments. If you don't decorate a tree, show me your menorah or dreidel, Kinara, or Yule Log. I want to see your favorite decoration for this holiday season
Here are my, I guess you can say favorite....

The first one is a Christmas reef I made with some of my extra angles i had used to make candles.
The second one is one a elder lady made my kids long ago.
The third one is my cinnamon/applesauce ornaments I make every year. I have to re-tract my recipe on these because I wrote it down wrong last time.
1 cup apple sauce
1 jar of 4.25 oz ground cinnamon
mix well and it will come out sorta like a biscuit dough. Roll them out like you would roll out biscuits and use cookie cutters to make any shape you want. Use a toothpick to make a small hole to be able to put a string through. Bake @ 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Let slightly cool and use a spacula to loosen from cookie sheet. Let set over night to finish drying out. The next day you can put a sting or ribbon in the hole and hang on your tree
