Fun Monday: Put on your walking shoes

This week our hostess is Aoj and her assignment is.... I'm going to make it a nice and easy Fun Monday this week. All I want you to do is take me on your favourite walk. In words or pictures. Or both of course! Tell me why it's your favourite and point out things of interest on the way.

My favorite place to walk is in the woods! The view is so beautiful and peaceful. We do not live near the woods, so I don't get to do that very much.
Two of my favorite spots in the woods is the Natchez Trace and Camp Yocona (I was trying to get better pictures of the camp, but I guess the video will have to do. Sorry)
I don't get to go to these places and go hiking much any more either, so I guess I would have to choose my neighborhood. Dan and I walk 2 miles a day when it is pretty.

(The 1st picture is when we 1st leave to start our walk)

(The 2nd picture is when we turn the corner starting up the hill)

(The 3rd picture is of the City Cemetery)(We live right behind the beautiful land mark, but can not see it from our house because of the trees)

(The next 3 pictures is of the beautiful back yard I wrote about in one of my Say Something Saturday. In the story I added a little, but this is a beautiful yard. I just wish I could have got better pictures to give it justice)

(The next 3 pictures are going back toward main street and in front of the cemetery. The sign is just one of many around our little town telling about our history, which I think is just wonderful.)

(The next picture is where I just turned the corner right off main street, going back toward the house)

(The next picture is where I turn back toward my house. It is the road right above our road.)

(The next next 3 pictures are of the home stretch. The End of our little venture)

As you tell by my pictures, even thou I live in the City of Pontotoc, we still have a lot of beautiful trees.

Fun Monday "Show me your favorite ornament"

Katabug is our host this week and this is what she wants...
In the spirit of the season I would like to see your favorite Christmas tree ornament. Not to be confused with the WHOLE tree. I want you to zoom in and show me one or a few(you know I can't choose just one!) of your favorite ornaments. If you don't decorate a tree, show me your menorah or dreidel, Kinara, or Yule Log. I want to see your favorite decoration for this holiday season
Here are my, I guess you can say favorite....

The first one is a Christmas reef I made with some of my extra angles i had used to make candles.
The second one is one a elder lady made my kids long ago.
The third one is my cinnamon/applesauce ornaments I make every year. I have to re-tract my recipe on these because I wrote it down wrong last time.
1 cup apple sauce
1 jar of 4.25 oz ground cinnamon
mix well and it will come out sorta like a biscuit dough. Roll them out like you would roll out biscuits and use cookie cutters to make any shape you want. Use a toothpick to make a small hole to be able to put a string through. Bake @ 350 degrees for 20-30 minutes. Let slightly cool and use a spacula to loosen from cookie sheet. Let set over night to finish drying out. The next day you can put a sting or ribbon in the hole and hang on your tree

Fun Monday - Show me your projects

This weeks host for Fun Monday is Blue Momma@Life in the Fish Bowl & here is her assignment:
I want you to show me your......projects. More to the point, I want to see your unfinished projects. I have so many that I really need some reassurance that I'm not the only one. Home improvement projects are what I have in mind, but it you don't have any of those show me any kind of project - needlework, cooking, scrap booking, etc. You can even show me your spouse if they qualify as a work in process.
***************************************************
My camera is still broke! I don't have my nieces at the moment since they came and picked it the day before Thanksgiving. But I do have some pictures of when I 1st started my project on my house. So, I can walk you through most of the steps.
We started remodeling this summer and because my mom got real sick, me baby sitting and other life's joy I'm still not done. Hopefully during Christmas break I will finish unless life throws me a curve ball.
We have repainted the kitchen, hallways, all 3 bed rooms and both bath rooms. We have put new or in the middle of putting new floors in the kitchen, hallways and both bathrooms. We also need to strip and redo the living room and all 3 bedrooms. They are the only rooms with the original hardwood floor and when we finish the rest of the house which should not take long we are going to do them last.
So here are a few pictures. (Gosh! I can't wait till I get my new camera!)
************************************************

These are before and after pictures of my kitchen floor. Even thou you can't see the unfinished part of the kitchen floor it's still there. I hope my hubby will take time during Christmas break to finish that part since I have no clue.

That is KB's floor. Not all the hard wood looks that bad they all still need to be done. The paint all in the floor because the kids have helped me is why we will do these floors last.

This is the boys room when we 1st started. I have put their room back in order, but we still haven't put their border up. Matter fact that is mostly what all the rooms need except the kitchen and hallways like.

The paint not completely cleaned up in places is what you don't see in the kitchen because I have either cleaned it, or covered it with paint or like this....

You also can't see the ceilings. Dan Dan tried to put the tear drop affect on them, but instead made them look bad. So, my brother told me that during Christmas he would help me with the ceilings and the wood floors.
We have come a long way since we 1st started, but I would still love to have the house finished before Christmas or at least before the new year.
Plus, the picture you saw with my new wood floor has an unfinished project of my quilt. I plan to finish also during Christmas and start my ABC quilt.
So!, there you have my unfinished projects for this year.
PS. I wished I had realized when we 1st started that I was going to make the dining area of my kitchen our class room. I'm thinking of taking the border in that area down and do something different, but haven't made up my mind.

Fun Monday Picture

Click on the piture to be able to see better.

Here is my Fun Monday picture to go with My story below. This isn't the age or picture I was looking for but it will work. Here I was 6. The picture got damaged in our move here 8 years ago. But the picture I was looking for was when I was 9 when I told my brothers they were getting on my "LEFT" nerve. My step mom brought me the picture after my dad passed almost 2 years ago. I think my kids have done something with it. I hope not because I don't have a lot of pictures when we were at my daddy's. It'll pop up one day when I'm not looking.

Fun Monday " A trip down memory lane"

This week our host is Karisma @ http://karismaskids.blogspot.com/
Here's her assignment:
"I want you to take a trip down memory lane, and keep right on going, right back to your childhood. And I want to hear "THAT STORY". You remember the one? Yes, you do! The one your parents, siblings, extended family or friends, would never let you forget, live down or get over!"
************************************
I have a few, but one that sticks out the most. My brothers were getting on my nerves and had me very flustered. I yelled at them, "You better stop it! You are getting on my LEFT nerve!"
To this day when I say, you are getting on my nerves or that's getting on my nerves, my family will ask; The left one? or The right One?
It wasn't funny then, but it is now. So there you go, my little trip down memory lane.
Some time Monday I'll try to get picture, but was unable today.

Mother May I Fun Monday

MOTHER MAY I
Now before we begin, here are the directions from "Mother Anni"--
You're to take 30 GIANT steps away from your computer. [my suggestion is to do this when you're in the house/apartment by yourself!! I did my homework already, to test my idea before suggesting it, and hubby was ready to commit me!! No really. Besides, we have the nearest loony bin on our speed dial!!]
- 30 GIANT STEPS - IN ANY direction. You may have to make a few turns and pivots so you won't run into any walls or such...don't want any injuries today! WARNING: Avoid any obstacles in the way- if there's a door...open it & continue, if there is a wall...pivot AROUND it. You may end up outdoors! Or perhaps if a small apartment....down the hallway....who knows?!! :::thinking::: "Oh gawd, if there's a pool at the end of your thirty steps, I sure as H E double L hope you can swim!!!!"
After the 30 giant steps, Stop!
TAKE A PHOTO AND/OR NOTE WHAT YOU'RE SEEING!!
Then, take 15 baby steps back.
After the 15 baby steps, Stop!
TAKE A PHOTO AND/OR NOTE WHAT YOU'RE SEEING
LOOK in any direction -to your right, left, up [more than likely, not down ---that'd be your feet!!]. What you see is what we get!!
Stop!
It's all about your first glance after the giant/baby steps!!! [You will have two photos/stories for us- the 30 giant steps then, the 15 baby steps going back]
Don't forget---ask "Mother may I"!!
Okay...go. Have some fun.
Oh, and to answer your "Mother may I?" Yes, YOU MAY!!

Wouldn't ya know my niece came and got the camera Friday, but thanks to my lovely computer I have old pitures of what I saw.
When I first got up I actually walked a complete circle.(Our house has a lot of room, just no storage. It was built in the 1400's and 8 years ago we stripped it down and rebuilt it from frame up.) When you leave my kitchen you walk in the hall, keep going straight your in the living room, then turn left your back in the kitchen. When I left the kitchen I didn't want to turn right because I would have been in the front bath or the boys room, which is a mess. Our bedroom and Kb's are right off the living room. So here it goes.....

That is our living room just befor you go into my bedroom. This pitcure was taken last year. So, the computer is not there any more. We have move the computer into the dinning area of the kitchen and made that part our class room. Which took me to my baby steps. It took me back to where I came.

That's my new location of my computer and my new one.
Isn't funny that my steps took me to both locations of my computer. LOL!
Thank You so much Hootin Annie for hosting this week. It was really fun!

An add on to Fun Monday

I was so caught up in helping get Deborah some recipes That I forgot to add some traditions. When Dan Dan I got married we made some traditions of our own to start with the kids.
Thanksgiving & Christmas
About 2 weeks before Thanksgiving we start making all different kinds of candy & cookies.
We mail them to friends or give them to people.
We dip pretzels in chocolate
We put peanut butter on Ritz crackers and dip in choc
We make Chocolate oatmeal cookies
Recipe:
1 cup sugar
1 tbs CO CO
1 stick butter
1/cup milk
Mix and boil 1 minute
remove from heat
Add 1/2 cup peanut butter &
3 cups oat meal
Mix well and drop on wax paper. Use a tbs to drop the cookies.
There are a bunch other candies and cookies we make but can't think of them right now or find the recipes.

Christmas
#1 We go and cut down a fresh tree. The whole family is involved on that.
#2 We put small and big candy canes on the tree. From the day we put it up, which is usually the weekend after Thanksgiving, we eat the small ones and on Christmas day we get our big ones.
As I think of more I may add later.

Fun Monday!

This weeks Host is Karina @ http://candidkarina.blogspot.com . She wants to see your security blankets. No, not the kind Linus carries around with him in the Charlie Brown cartoons. What she wants to see are the items you just can not leave home without.

When I leave the house and going to be gone a while I have have my purse ( For those that saw my purse on the purse contest my husband felt bad and went and bought me a new one. So, at least I did get a new purse out of the contest. :)
that has my medicine, insurance cards, check book, drivers licence, my cell phone and a little more of this and that. Also got to have my cigarettes and my cup of Dt Mt Dew.

Yeah, can't forget those keys!

If I have my nephews I gotta have the diaper bag. 4 Sure!

If we going to gone all day I have the kids bring work books to work on.

If I'm just going on a short run to the store I make sure I at least have my dew!

So, there you have it. These are the things I make sure I have before I leave home besides the kids and myself.

Fun Monday, clothing art

This week's Fun Monday is being hosted by WT, he wants to see some clothing art. That's tee shirts, baseball caps, hoodies, sports uniforms or any bit of clothing that you or your kids own that has interesting, funny or artistic graphics.
I guess you can tell by my pictures that we have your typical shirts and hats. Nothing too interesting or funny, but they give you an over all glance of what we are like.

Yes, living in the Dixie Land and the South we have our Red Neck shirts.

We have bought a few home school shirts from the big group we are in, but I have made our own.

We all have a few Religous shirts.

I have a shirt that says, "I would give up chocolate, but I'm no quiter!

We all like camo and hunting shirts also. My husband and youngest boy are more into it thou. My little girl loves pink camo.

My oldest son and I wear a lot of Boy Scout shirts. He has been in BSA for 9years now. I was a leader till last year, but that's a whole other post. I also went through woodbadge and was a buffalo. "Be careful when you follow the Buffalo, the chips fall where they may!"

As you can tell, we are Ole Miss Fans. So, alot of our shirts, hats, pants and even 1/2 dosen candels are of our favorite team.

Fun Monday "Meet Cute" Stories

Here are a few of our wedding pictures, almost 16 years ago.
Describe your meeting with your spouse/significant other. I especially want to hear "meet cute" stories. And it doesn't have to be your actual current sig/other. Perhaps the "meet cute" story is a former boy/girlfriend... or even a best friend. Illustrate with photos, of course.
Okay, if you don't read careful on the 1st part you might misunderstand. So, to make it clear, we were only step brother and sister for one year and I was 5 and he 4 and it had been almost 18 years since we had saw each other. So, with no misunderstanding of incest or anything like that I'll start my story of my husband and I.
Okay, my husband at the time was in jail and I was on the road of trying to straighten up my life. I went out with a friend girl one night just to get out a little bit. She kept telling me of this guy she was in love with and how wonderful he was. She told his name was Daniel Mc. I wanted to meet him because when I was 5 he was my step brother for about a year or less and I had not seen him since. I sure was not trying to or wanted her man. (To make the record clear) When we walked up to him on the court square with his friends, he grabbed me and whispered in my ear to keep that girl away from him. He said that his car broke down one night and she gave him a ride home and wouldn't leave him alone. Well, I was happy to see him, but was not looking for no man! I took him over to momma's because she had not seen him either in a long time. We just started hanging out catching up on the years. The more we hung out the closer we got, but he was getting closer than I was. He would scare the mess out of me because he would buy me things and take me out. He was so sweet. I try to run him off a few times. Well, when it was time for my husband to come home, which I had meant to get a divorce from, I told Daniel that I needed to do the right thing. Only Alen being home 2 days, I put him on the road fast! Daniel kept coming over, but I was still running. The day Alen came to get his divorce papers I was so glad Daniel was there, he ran him off. Well, I finally let my guard down and this wonderful man in my heart. The 25th of this month we will be married 16 years.
I don't know if that is what you consider a "Cute Meet Story" But it sure is an unusual one.
