Late Fun Monday

I know I signed up late, but I have been missing Fun Monday. It will be late this afternoon before I can get to most, but I'll do my best.
Heather is our hostess this week and she wants to know who your favorite team sports is. Here's what she had to say...
The topic: Sports. More specifically, the sports team that you are rabid about. Maybe you love the Dallas Cowboys. Maybe you never miss a Cincinnati Reds game. Perhaps you follow every goal of the Fighting Illini Water Polo team. Or maybe nobody can tear you away from a Manchester United game. I want to hear about whatever sports team(s) that make you cry tears of joy when they win and tears of sorrow when they lose.
And on the flip side, I also want to hear about the teams you love to hate and why you hate them so much. You know what I mean. Like when you meet a new friend who is really cool and fun, and then you find out they root for your most hated rival team and you actually consider for a moment that you can't be friends anymore. Those teams.
That's it. And if you don't like any sports at all, I don't know what to say to you. Tell us something else you are impassioned about.

When I was growing up I was my momma's hyper child! I had to be so busy that I tried all kind of sports till I found the one that fit me. I played on a all boy's baseball team (we didn't have any girl's baseball or softball back then here), I played basket ball, and finally tried out for Cross Country and loved it. Even thou I don't keep up with cross country much any more that happens to be my favorite sport.
As far as now, I like watching my kids play in sports. I rather watch them play baseball than football, but no matter what they are involved in, mom is there.
I don't have any pictures of JB playing baseball or football, but hopefully soon I will.
As far as local teams, I support our local school because that is where Jb goes and where I went to school. The Pontotoc Warriors! As far as our local college team I support the Ole Miss Rebels! My little brother went to school there and my family just has always supported them. Dan, the kids and I have several candles with Ole Miss on it.



Ps. I almost forgot. We are at the city school, but we have 2 county schools. I have several niece and nephews at South Pontotoc. I have 2 nephews that play football there. I also have a bother in law at North Pontotoc Vikings. He is on the Special Olympics team.

What Role Do You Play?

Creative week for KB

Some weeks my mom has good days and some weeks not so good. This week happens to be the not so good. When mom is not having such a good week I have to be there more during the day. This week I have been getting home after 1 PM. With KB having dyslexia she is not able to do a lot of her work by herself. Sometimes she will listen to Rocker Dude, sometimes not. So, this week I would show her the night before what to do while I'm not here. She is working on taking pictures and videos along with her other school work. While I wasn't here she had fun making things and taking pictures of what she did. She also would spell her spelling words with the play dough we made. She didn't take any pictures of her spelling words, but here a few pictures of some of the the things that my Great Nephew "No No" and KB made.
I haven't had time to upload the videos to You Tube yet, but I think she did a very good job.

I got it fixed

I was able to put the other blog here in the listings instead of where it was. It may take a little longer getting all the files transferred because now I need to transfer what is on that blog and my PDF files.

BLOGGER is getting on my LEFT NERVE!

I have a new blog just for home school

This new blog is what this blog was 1st intended for, but I met new friends. Which I'm so thankful for! The purpose of this other blog is to put all my home school files and worksheets on, just in case my computer crashes and give me more room.Plus, this gives me an opportunity to share with other homeschoolers that may can use them. Plus, if any one would like to share some of theirs with me, that will be great also.
So, I may not be able to on this blog for a few days while I transfer some of these files and worksheets. It is not as easy as I would of hoped for. Plus, with my already busy schedule it makes my time a little bit tighter than it already is.
So, bare with me while I do this. You are welcome to use anything on there that will help you. Also, if you would like to share anything that will help me with our homeschooling, I would be so ever thankful. You can give me a link or email it.

My tattoo

I was ask to tell about my tattoo the other day so, I guess I will tell the story. So, here's my story and I'm sticking to it! Word of warning: Not the happiest of post, but it's okay because it's all behind me. This part of my life has made me the better person I am today.

My tattoo is a heart with wings, but the picture above is not mine, just similar. Matter fact this one is better. Mine also has AL inside it. (I tried to take picture of mine, but it is hard taking a picture of your upper chest!) So, on with my story...

My life before Dan or the kids I was married to a man named AL. (He put the word ASS in Jackass!) He was very abusive! Right after we got married he came home one night and said we were moving to California. We were in such a hurry I barely had time to tell my mom I was leaving or pack. I was sort of excited and scared all at the same time. While we were there, there was a man who was doing tattoos just above our apartment. I had always wanted a tattoo of a heart with wings, so I ask him to do me one. Just when he was done Al told him to put his name in the middle of my tattoo. I didn't won’t his name in my tattoo, but wasn't going to argue. Not only was I not happy with Al's name inside my tattoo, but I didn't like how the tattoo turned out. I have been telling Dan for the last 17 years I want the tattoo re-done and Al's name colored over or whatever they could do. Yes, I could die with this tattoo, but I refuse to die with that man's name on my chest.
If I had it to do all over I would have not had the tattoo done, but would have went to a professional. So, hopefully one of these days I will get my tattoo re-done.
Now, you have the short version of my long story and a glimpse into my book. (Shhhh!)

1. Thinker or doer? Both

2. Have you ever performed in public (like music, dance, singing, speeches, etc)? Yes, I have gave speeches through boy scouts and church, I sing at church and also do drama. Did you like it? I rather do drama.

3. Do you have any tattoos? yes Do you want one? I want this one redone. (long story)

4. What is your favorite museum? Mud Island. I haven't had the pleasure to go to as many as I would like.

5. Are you good at keeping secrets? Yes Does it make you uncomfortable to be asked to keep a secret? Sometimes. It just depends how bad it is.

6. Can you play any musical instruments? I use to play the trumpet, but kept ulcers, so had to give up playing. What do you wish you knew how to play? Drums (I have never been able to read music, I play by ear. When I was in band I was told I could never be 1st chair even thou I played very good, but because I couldn't read music.)

7. Whose voice do you find soothing? My moms and kids Irritating? my brother in laws wife! (long story)

9. Other people's biggest misconception about me is ... I don't know. I have always been told I'm easy to read.

10.Do you have any one's autograph? Yes. I have one of our President and mayor because of great community service recognitions in boy scouts. I also have one of a couple that use to have a local show, but her husband passed away and now she is getting too old, so no more show.

A sad Remembrance and Happy Birthday!

Today is a sad day of Remembrance of 9/11, but it also is my little brother's Birthday. I remember that day so very well. I just had surgery and was laying on the couch 1/2 way watching the TV and watching my 2 kittens playing. About that time what was on TV caught my eye. I was in disbelief and ask Dan if it was real. After a few minutes we realized it was. About 9 PM that night my little brother called me and asked me why I haven't called and wished him a Happy Birthday. I felt really bad! I told him that I didn't know how to wish a Happy on a day like that, but promised I would never forget him! (I hadn't forgot him that day, just didn't know what to say)
DaDa, I'm sorry you have such a sad remembrance on your birthday, but you are what makes this day so special! Just think of it this way, millions of people from all over are celebrating your Birthday!

Looking for answers....

And all I get is medical jumbo. Yesterday I took momma for her 4 month check up with the lung Dr. (We have had to go several times before this visit, but this one was scheduled.) The last few times we have gone they have not handed us the form that you get to take up front to pay your bill and has your diagnoses on it. I just thought at 1st it was because momma has already paid her out of pocket. I would ask questions and would get; she looks good, or she is going to die! No real answers and I was getting a little ticked! (Frustrated) Even yesterday I would ask and they would beat around the bush. They could tell I was getting ill! Even when I asked about the wheel chair they tried to blow me off about talking about it, but said they was going to order it. Okay! What kind? Is it for just going places or all the time? And a 100 more I couldn't’t get an answer for. What even makes this more frustrating is momma has a lady through her insurance that talks to us and to the Dr to make sure she gets the best care. The Dr tells her way more than us. Momma kept telling me that the lady had the Dr wanted her to get a wheel chair to reserve her air and for she can get out more. I finally called the lady myself and made her all kind of uncomfortable! I guess she told the Dr because yesterday they gave me the sheet of paper that tells what the Dr’s diagnoses is. It had Chronic Respiratory failure and COPD. So, I came home and looked up Chronic Respiratory failure on the computer. All I got was all this medical JUMBO. (The article is below along with a website, which is more medical jumbo. What I have highlighted in red is what I understand the most and is what I have heard them say before.
All I ask is for the Dr to be a little more honest and explain to the family on their level!

Respiratory failure is a syndrome in which the respiratory system fails in one or both of its gas exchange functions: oxygenation and carbon dioxide elimination. In practice, respiratory failure is defined as a PaO2 value of less than 60 mm Hg while breathing air or a PaCO2 of more than 50 mm Hg. Furthermore, respiratory failure may be acute or chronic. While acute respiratory failure is characterized by life-threatening derangements in arterial blood gases and acid-base status, the manifestations of chronic respiratory failure are less dramatic and may not be as readily apparent.
Classification of respiratory failure
Respiratory failure may be classified as hypoxemic or hypercapnic and may be either acute or chronic.
Hypoxemic respiratory failure (type I) is characterized by a PaO2 of less than 60 mm Hg with a normal or low PaCO2. This is the most common form of respiratory failure, and it can be associated with virtually all acute diseases of the lung, which generally involve fluid filling or collapse of alveolar units. Some examples of type I respiratory failures are cardiogenic or noncardiogenic pulmonary edema, pneumonia, and pulmonary hemorrhage.

Respiratory failure occurs when the respiratory system fails in oxygenation and/or carbon dioxide elimination. Respiratory failure may be:1

Hypercapnic respiratory failure (type II): PaCO2 is more than 50 mmHg (6.5kPa) and indicates inadequate alveolar ventilation. Any ventilation-perfusion mismatch will affect PaO2 and therefore hypoxaemia is also common.
Okay, if I have any medical people out there that can help explain this, I would be so ever grateful! Then again, I may already now and just not wanting to see.
What you think? I still think that Drs should be a little more honest and help the family understand what they are dealing with.

Bullies

Definition: bully -A person who is habitually cruel or overbearing, especially to smaller or weaker people.

My son JB has had his 1st encounter with a bully at school. Dan and I have known about it because he tells us almost everything. Well, I told JB he needed to go to his coach or principal about this or I would. Dan said, no! He said, for JB to wait till he had enough then let the boy have it then we would go from there. I didn't agree, but stayed back. Well, Friday this little boy pushed JB's wrong button and JB swung on him. When JB tapped him on the head, then the boy started to leave, but JB knew in his heart that he needed to get his point across. He grabbed the boy's backpack when he tried to leave and hit him a few more times. When he let go the boy walked out, but came back in swinging. JB and this little boy passed a few more licks then separated. ABout the time the boy left out of the locker room, the coach walked in, and then JB ran home. When he got home he told me all about it. I didn't get onto him, but told him that when or if he got a paddling Monday to have the coach call me. I knew JB hit 1st and I know what he done was wrong, but I wanted to make sure the other boy got punished also. I waited by the phone all day Monday, but never got a call. When JB got home he told me that the whole football team had to do a lot of push ups and then coach called him and the other boy off to the side to talk. The coach asked JB 1st what had happen and JB told him the whole truth. JB said that he told the coach that I had gave him permission to tell most of what the boy said, then processed to tell what had happened to lead up to the fight. After JB was done telling his side of the story the coach ask the other boy. The other boy just said that JB has been trying to start a fight with him since he started school, but wouldn’t give a reason. This did not satisfy the coach because he couldn’t give a reason for JB wanting to fight him, but JB had gave him the reason of why he had wanted to. After the coach raising his voice a few times asking the boy, why, the boy broke and said JB was telling the truth. Coach told the boys that the reason he had made them all do a lot of push ups was because the other boys knew that this bullying was going on and didn’t report it. He told JB to come tell him next time and let him handle it and made the boy go to the next locker room. So, I guess in a way that Dan knew what he was talking about. Get the boy’s attention and let him know that he wasn’t going to let him push him around and he wasn’t tattle tale. I’m glad all this is over and hopefully there will be no more bullying. Dan and I told JB that he better not go around thinking fighting was the answer, but we felt he handle this correctly and was pleased on how the coach handled it also.

Fun Fridays

Last year we started Fun Fridays. What are Fun Fridays you ask? Well, after studying all week we do little test to make sure the kids understand what we have learnt then do fun grafts, science projects and other fun stuff. The other day I found a fun recipe over at Dawn's and thought it would so cool to do for this Friday.
Here's a the recipe:
Kool-Aid Playdough
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 pkg unsweetened Kool-Aid
2 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 cup boiling water
Mix the dry ingredients. Add the oil to the water, then pour into the dry ingredients. Stir well, kneading until smooth. Store in an airtight container in the fridge when not being played with.
We made Blue; blue berry, Red; cherry, Green, lemon lime. We are going to make Yellow; lemon and Orange; orange tomorrow.

We started school this week.

We haven't worked out all the kinks yet, but the last 2 days were pretty good. At the 1st of each month Rocker Dude is having to help KB while I take momma to the Dr and pay our bills on the 3rd. Other than that I think we will be okay. I will find out how good it works tomorrow since it will my 1st full day with the kids. Well, not a full day as some may think. Here is what my schedule will be looking like... I get up at 5:30 AM fix breakfast and get Dan off to work by 6:30 AM, then I wake JB up and drop him off at school by 15 till 8 AM. After I take him to school I go to momma's and give her a bath and whatever else she needs. About 11 or 12 I go to the house and start our day of schooling. While I'm at my mom's Rocker Dude and KB take a bath, eat and do their chores for the day. When I get home we will do school from about 11 or 12 till 4.
I had tried staying here till about 12 noon then going over momma's, but that just made my day longer, so I'm really hoping this works out. I have a feeling it will.
Today, I had to take KB back to the Dr because she still was running a fever and has ulcers all in her mouth. He said she was well on her way to recovery from everything else that had to do with the virus, ear infection, throat infection and sinus infection. He said it would take another 3 weeks or so to get over the ulcers in the mouth. He gave her something to deaden her mouth for she can eat and drink more. He told her if she didn't start drinking she would land up in the hospital with IVs. She had been drinking pretty good until today. The medicine seems to be helping so far.

I never really knew how strong of a person I was till the last year, but even though I'm strong 90% of the time there are days I get a little down. And that’s when my wonderful world of Blogging Buddies plays an even bigger part in my life than normal. In my good times and bad times you all are there for me and I want to thank each and everyone! Saturday just so happen to be one of my bad days and my friends came through for me and gave me a lift. Also, Chris B gave me an award that helped cheer me up. A little update of my world

1- My mom is not doing well at all. I hate looking at each day and wonder if this is her last. They are going to get her a wheel chair to help reserve her air. She said no at 1st, but now has decided to comply with it. I wish the Dr's would explain all this a little better instead of.... She is going to die. I can't believe she has gone down so quickly. Some days I have hopes of her living a few more years, but don't know.
2- KB has been a very sick little girl! She has had a sinus infection, a throat infection, an ear infection and a virus on top of all that. The other night I had to take her to the ER about 11 PM because her fever was almost 104 and with everything I did it kept climbing. The next day she got worse. We had to go back to the hospital and give her IV fluids. Her blood pressure had drop rock bottom, her fever wouldn't drop and she was dehydrated. Two days later her gums are swelled up really bad and she has blisters all in her mouth. I took her to the regular Dr today. He told me I had a very sick little girl, like I didn't already know. He gave her 2 shots, something to help her mouth get better and told me if she didn't start drinking she would be back in the hospital tomorrow with more IVs. I feel the 2 shots have helped, she feels better today. I'm not sure what kind of virus, (he told me but I forgot) but he said he was a really bad one. It was one that last a little over a week instead of 24-72 hours like most viruses.
It's been really hard taking care of and momma, but I have and I survived!!!
3- I have finally figured out a schedule that helps me take care of momma and home school. I will post that in a few days.
Other than all that I'm good even though my house needs a little help! LOL!

I know everybody has their own life, but I just thought I would jot down a little bit of mine. Writing this post makes think of the saying... Momma always said there would be days like this! LOL!

A little bragging

I finally took Rocker Dude to get his permit today and he passed! I allowed him to drive us to church and he did a pretty good job!
I'm so proud of my little man~

Topper

Remember my mom's puppy she got last December for Christmas? While she was in the Hospital in February, Dan and I took care of him. Matter fact we had to keep him several months till she got well enough for us to take him home. With me going over every day he still thinks he is mine. (partly)He has got very protective of momma in the last few weeks. I'm not real sure what that is all about. Well, Topper is not the sweet little ball of fur any more! He thinks he is though. LOL! He will not be 1 till November and is hyper as hyper can get!
I wish I had got a better picture of him to show how big he really is, but maybe next time. (The 1st 2 pictures are when we had him, the next 2 are of what he looks like now.)

He is doing very well except for Science, but I feel once he catches on to how that teacher does it, he will do well. He is very excited about going back to school, so this makes me happy. I'm so well pleased that he has his interest back in learning. (He and I was doing nothing but clashing last year)

KB's sleep over!

I sorta lied about not staying up all night with the girls, but in a way I didn't. We were having so much fun that I stayed up with the girls till 2:30 AM. They had a beauty contest and guess who won over all? Yep! KB! One of her friends fell asleep early, so there were only 2 in it. One of the other girls wanted to be a judge with my niece that helped me do the make overs. I didn't get of my nieces that I wanted to come over, but that is another rant, I mean post for another day. LOL!

Our birthday parties!

Today we had 2 parties in one. We wasn't able to have it at the park as planned because of rain, but it still turned out okay. (Now, next year we are either going to rent to pool in the next county or get a big water slide and have water balloons here for Aron's Big Blow Out (Sweet 16) party. Tonight KB is having a sleep over. They are going do make overs, have a dance contest, beauty contest, play games and whatever else they can think of. I will post those pics later. (If they don't forget to take any) I'm sure not staying up all night! LOL! I was smart; I got my 19 year old niece to come and stay up with them.
